The back of the French handball team Gnonsiane Niombla lamented on social media Wednesday that he was insulted by a "racist audience" during a Hungarian championship match with his club Siofok.

"Playing in front of such a racist audience, I had never experienced this, thank you, you gave me so much strength! Education 0 behavior 0 brain 0. Come on, good luck," wrote Niombla, 29, on his Instagram account after a trip to Debrecen where his team won (39-30).

The rear left of the Blue, who left Metz for Hungary last summer, explained on the website of the newspaper L'Equipe to have heard "monkey cries" from the warm-up.

"I had the misfortune to be on the wrong side when I did my long passes. When I came back on the field, screams of monkey. I made a counter-attack, the same. I don't understand Hungarian but there was not an ounce of kindness, "said the handball player.
