Benjamin Griveaux has appointed a new campaign manager to replace deputy Pacôme Rupin, himself head of the list in Paris Center, AFP learned on Tuesday. "I can't ask Pacôme [Rupin] to run my campaign and his," said candidate LREM, who says he "needs someone who is not one morning with the merchants, another with associations of residents but of someone who can be operational H24 ”. He also disputed that this change of campaign manager constitutes any "disavowal" of Rupine.

To replace him, the former government spokesperson did not go far since he chose LREM's deputy director general, Paul Midy, who has been in office since March 2019. He is "someone very competent, who has demonstrated his qualities, his skills and his efficiency within LREM since his arrival ”, said Benjamin Griveaux.

Attract center-right voters

Former figure of the Young People, the youth branch of the UMP, Paul Midy, 36, polytechnician, was once close to Valérie Pécresse and was also CEO of the home meal delivery company Frichti from April to October 2018. "His appointment corresponds to a desire to attract voters from the center right," told AFP a member of the presidential movement, according to whom his relations with the LREM teams are also "difficult" since his arrival at headquarters.

"It was planned that from the moment when I carry a list, I will not be campaign manager until the end to be able to focus on the campaign of Paris Center", the new electoral district which absorbs the first four districts Parisians, explained Pacôme Rupin, who also remains president of the “political council of the campaign”, that is to say of “political strategy”.

Honored to have been the campaign director of @BGriveaux for six months and now to chair its political council. Thank you @midy_paul for taking over so that I can devote myself to leading our list to victory in Paris Center! pic.twitter.com/nMhzBmN3jd

Benjamin Griveaux is to announce this week the district in which he will be a candidate in Paris, while other members of the government could join his list like the Secretary of State responsible for equality between women and men , Marlène Schiappa (XIV arrondissement) and the deputy and boss of LREM Stanislas Guerini, candidate in non-eligible position in the XVII arrondissement, until then bastion of the right. Two months before the municipal election, Benjamin Griveaux is outstripped, in the intentions of voting in the first round, by the outgoing mayor PS Anne Hidalgo, according to several opinion surveys and faces the dissident candidacy LREM of Cédric Villani.
