The man has been detained since November last year. At first, the suspicions concerned a few cases of rape against children, but the investigation has grown larger.
When the man was arrested on Tuesday, the suspicion, according to prosecutor Rahima Ortac, involved more than 20 cases of serious rape against children and two cases of serious sexual abuse of children.
"Admits the facts""I make that assessment based on information that has emerged and also the age of the plaintiff," Rahima Ortac told SVT in mid-December last year.
According to the prosecutor, the 53-year-old admits the facts, but has neither acknowledged nor denied the crime.
