There are only 12 left in the arena. While not taking off in the polls, New Jersey Senator Cory Booker threw in the towel in the Democratic primary on Monday. In a race still dominated by Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders continues to climb, in second position, while the decline of Elizabeth Warren is confirmed. Three weeks before the first election in Iowa, the last to arrive, Michael Bloomberg, who points in fifth position, spends countlessly with ads broadcast during American football games this weekend, before his remote duel with Donald Trump during the Super Bowl on February 2.

Cory Booker bows out

It was not his year. Despite an undeniable charisma and good performances during the televised debates, Cory Booker ended his campaign on Monday morning. While he seemed to have a card to play, the senator from New Jersey has never managed to take off in the polls - he has been pointing at less than 2% in recent months. After Kamala Harris' withdrawal, only Andrew Yang remains to represent the minorities. In his farewell message posted on Twitter, Booker promises to campaign for the Democratic candidate. In the meantime, he will return to the Senate for the Donald Trump impeachment trial. At 50, we will probably see him again in a future presidential election.

It's with a full heart that I share this news — I'm suspending my campaign for president.

To my team, supporters, and everyone who gave me a shot — thank you. I am so proud of what we built, and I feel nothing but faith in what we can accomplish together. pic.twitter.com/Fxvc549vlJ

Bernie Sanders goes up, Elizabeth Warren goes down

Joe Biden continues to dominate national polls, with 29% of voting intentions, according to the average established by RealClearPolitics. But behind, Bernie Sanders has the wind in its sails among progressives: it has gone from 14% in October to 20% today. Elizabeth Warren, for her part, is experiencing an opposite trajectory, with a fall from 26% to 15%.

Since Sanders' heart alert, the left wing of the Democratic electorate seems to be solidifying around the Vermont senator, who has received official support from several unions in Iowa and New Hampshire. While the two sides are going back to back, Donald Trump threw some fuel on the fire this weekend, tweeting: “Wow, Bernie the madman comes up in the polls (…). Its volunteers criticize Elizabeth "Pocahontas" Warren. Everyone knows that his campaign is over. Elizabeth is angry with Bernie. Is an argument looming? "

Michael Bloomberg bets on advertising

The former mayor of New York started (very) late in the race, more than six months after his opponents. He is now in 5th position in the polls, behind Pete Buttigieg, at 6%. Michael Bloomberg has a major weapon: his personal fortune, estimated at more than $ 50 billion. He spends without counting, flooding the first States with television spots in which he has invested more than 100 million dollars.

This weekend, he even offered himself a national ad during an American football game, and he will reoffend on February 2 during the Super Bowl, with a minute bought for 10 million dollars, just like… Donald Trump. The billionaire duel promises between pubs for Doritos crisps and Bud Light beer.
