Yesterday, the Speaker of the Egyptian Parliament, Ali Abdel-Al, affirmed that the Libyan national security is closely linked to the Egyptian national security.

Abdel-Al said, in a speech at a session of the Egyptian parliament in the presence of the Speaker of the Libyan Parliament, Aqila Saleh and the accompanying delegation, which was broadcast by the Egyptian TV, that the Egyptian-Libyan relations, which extend and deep in all social and political aspects that link the two peoples, bear civilizations and common strategic interests.

Abdel-Al reaffirmed "the principles of Egypt's stance towards the Libyan crisis, foremost of which is respect for the will of the Libyan people and the necessity of reaching a political solution that paves the way for the return of security and stability and preserves the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Libya."

He stressed that "the signing of the two memoranda of understanding between Turkey and (President of the Presidential Council of the Libyan National Accord Government) Fayez al-Sarraj last November constitutes a flagrant violation of international law and relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions, and also violates the Skhirat Agreement." He added, "We in Parliament Al-Masry supports and supports the courageous stance taken by the Libyan parliament in rejecting these memoranda and considering them null and without impact.

He pointed out that "the elements of a political solution in Libya exist and are available, especially as we have an important opportunity, which is the Berlin International Conference that will be held this month."

On the other hand, Algeria welcomed yesterday, "a ceasefire in Libya," calling on all Libyan components to abide by it and return to the path of a comprehensive national dialogue in order to reach a solution that takes into account the interest of the Libyan people.

Algeria confirmed, in a statement to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, its previous positions towards the crisis in Libya, stressing "to continue its efforts to reach a peaceful political solution that guarantees the unity and sovereignty of the Libyan people in the security and stability away from any foreign interference." A ceasefire took effect between the Al-Wifaq government and the Libyan National Army.
