It started with the Gulf of Surf asking people to sew paw protection to the koalas rescued from the fire. Something that Ingela Lundwall in Sundsvall immediately felt she could contribute.

- I hooked up and made a post on Facebook with deadline today. That people who wanted to help could come here and submit.

Ingela has received hundreds of small bags for kangaroos and paw protection for koalas. Both preschools and sewing companies have contributed.

Risk of excess

According to news media in Australia, incredible amounts of things and food have come in for the needy. The problem has become that it becomes difficult to handle all support.

Do you think all this can be received?

- I think it will be used down there and that the aid organizations will help to allocate resources where needed. The collection has entered a different stage now and now more protective equipment is needed, Ingela replies.

According to an estimate from the University of Sydney, around a billion mammals, birds and reptiles have died from wildfires in Australia.
