A mountaineer between 40 and 50 years old has died this morning when he fell from a frozen hillside of 300 meters in the area of ​​the cliff of Los Claveles, in Peñalara , to the west of the region, the Emergency Service 112 of the Community of Madrid.

According to 112, at 10.30 am he received a call from another mountaineer who had witnessed the fall of another hiker, who was alone and who fell down a hill hitting violently .

First of all, members of the Special Rescue Group at Height (GERA) of the Firefighters of the Community of Madrid have agreed, confirming the death and the impossibility of resuscitation due to "fatal injuries of necessity".

Subsequently, a team from the Civil Guard Mountain Rescue Service has proceeded, with judicial authorization, to lift the body and scrape it by helicopter to the funeral home, where an autopsy will be performed.

Los Claveles cliff is one of the most rugged areas in the entire Sierra del Guadarrama. It has 2,388 meters of altitude and is located in the northwest of the Peñalara Natural Park.
