A 17-year-old minor was taken prisoner on Sunday after the assault of a 25-year-old police officer seriously injured with a stab in Saturday in Marseille, when he intervened to calm a dispute between young people. The teenager went to a police station in the northern districts of the city, accompanied by a lawyer who had previously informed the investigators of his client's decision.

Four other young people involved in this dispute in front of a bakery in the Chartreux district, in the heart of Marseille, were taken into police custody for failure to assist people in danger. The origin of the brawl after which the policeman was stabbed in the abdomen is still not known. During his intervention, the grievor, who was not on duty, was in civilian clothes and had not mentioned his status as a police officer.

He was still in serious condition on Sunday but "improving". Victim of a relatively long cardiac arrest, he regained consciousness on Sunday during the day and had to be operated again in the evening.
