The UAE affirmed its support for the call made by United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres to halt escalation in the region and revitalize international cooperation, renewing in this regard its commitment to seeking political solutions, playing the role of mediation and spreading the values ​​of tolerance.

This came during the statement made by the Chargé d'Affairs to the United Nations' delegate to the United Nations, Ghasak Shaheen, in front of the general debate held by the United Nations Security Council at the United Nations in New York, on the subject of "adherence to the United Nations Charter for the maintenance of international peace and security", which was reviewed during The sensitive stage the Middle East is going through, and it is necessary to calm down tensions and use diplomatic means to spare the region more escalation, pointing out that the signing of the United Nations Charter 75 years ago constituted a crucial point for the world’s transition from war to peace.

Shaheen said, "The UAE believes that the peaceful settlement of disputes is one of the main pillars upon which the United Nations was built, which was clearly demonstrated in its dealings with the issue of the three Emirati islands: Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb and Abu Musa." It renewed the UAE's support for the United Nations-led political processes to settle disputes in the region in a peaceful manner.

In the State’s statement, Shaheen stressed the importance of the Security Council strengthening consultations and coordination with the concerned member states in order to effectively address the cases on its agenda, stressing the vital role that regional and subregional organizations can play in addressing tensions and achieving security.

She also stressed that the international community must not lose sight of the human cost of the conflict, which was exacerbated by the lack of adherence to the implementation of the Charter, stressing that the UAE will continue its leadership in supporting humanitarian and development projects in the world.

The UAE believes that a peaceful settlement is one of the main pillars of the United Nations.
