Iran says that Ukrainian liner was shot down by mistake

“As a result of a human error, this aircraft was accidentally shot down,” the General Staff quoted the IRIB as saying.

Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif said that the mistake was made during the crisis, "provoked by US adventurism."

He also expressed condolences to the victims of the incident.

Earlier, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that the US believes it is likely that a Ukrainian passenger plane was shot down in Tehran by an Iranian missile.
