“The Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of South Ossetia with deep regret reports that the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Envoy of the 1st class, the Ambassador of Russia to South Ossetia in 2008-2017 Elbrus Kanikoevich Kargiev passed away on January 11, 2020,” the agency said.
The embassy noted the significant contribution of Kargiev to the development of bilateral relations between South Ossetia and Russia.
According to TASS with reference to the diplomatic mission, the farewell to the diplomat will take place in Moscow on January 13 at 13:00, the funeral will be held in Vladikavkaz on January 15.
At the end of October in Moscow, the 28-year-old daughter of the Iranian ambassador to Russia died of a heart attack.
