The Washington Post quoted US officials as saying that the killing of the Quds Force commander, Qassem Soleimani, had taken place in conjunction with the operation targeting the commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards in Yemen, Abdul Ridha Shahlahe.

A Pentagon official told the newspaper that Washington had not announced the operation to target Al-Shahhali because of its failure, indicating that it could be targeted again in order to hinder the mechanism of financing the Iranian Revolutionary Guards in Yemen as the primary responsible for them.

The newspaper quoted officials that the Pentagon leaders were observing the two strikes and discussed announcing them together if they succeeded, but the failure of the second operation canceled the scheme.

And the US State Department previously offered a reward of $ 15 million for information leading to Shahla and the disruption of the financial mechanisms of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.

American officials say that Shahli, born in 1957, is linked to attacks against American forces in Iraq, including a sophisticated raid in which Iranian-backed militiamen in 2007 kidnapped and killed five American soldiers in Karbala.
