This Bisontin district - classified since October 2018 as "Republican reconquest district" - is "probably" in the grip of a "territory struggle" for drug trafficking, in which shootings and settling of scores between rival gangs are raging with a six episodes shots in less than two months, according to the public prosecutor, Etienne Manteaux.

"Strong concern" of the prosecutor

"By putting these facts in a more general context which dates back to November 20, (...), everything suggests that we are facing a series of facts related to drug trafficking," he continued, making part of his "deep concern". "Some of the victims are linked to drug trafficking, so that suggests that we are in settling of scores, successive responses, which must be stopped as soon as possible," he said.

Planoise, which has about 20,000 inhabitants, already had a gunshot wounded at the end of November, three on Christmas day, affected by weapons of war, and yet another Thursday evening. "We really have this detestable feeling of delinquents who appropriate public space and terrorize the population," noted Etienne Manteaux.

The prefect of Doubs Joël Mathurin, who made his vows on Friday evening, stressed that the fight against drug trafficking and the underground economy in Planoise had led last year to 224 procedures concerning narcotics and allowed the dismantling of 'a dozen deal points. In addition, 204 people were arrested. The prefecture has also announced "significant police reinforcements" in Planoise "from this (Friday) evening".
