“I have issued a decree imposing sanctions against any natural or legal person employed in the construction, manufacturing, textile or mining sectors of the Iranian economy, or any person providing assistance to those involved in activities that fall under these sanctions,” in a statement published by the White House.

According to him, this decree "will have a serious impact on the Iranian economy."

Trump stressed that these economic sanctions will remain in force as long as Iran does not change its behavior.

Washington previously announced sanctions against eight senior Iranian officials, as well as 17 Iranian metal producers and mining companies.

According to US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, the sanctions imposed by the Trump administration led to the loss of 80% of Iran’s revenue.
