Since midnight on Wednesday, the Independent National Electoral Commission, which organizes and supervises the presidential poll scheduled for February 22, by closing the nomination papers, announced that it had received 10 files. There are nine men and a woman who intend to seek the suffrage of the Togolese in the first round.

In the order in which the files are submitted, the two main opponents of the poll of five years ago are in the lead: Jean-Pierre Fabre and Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé. One will defend the alternation, the other its balance sheet of 15 years of power and its national development program which goes from 2018-2022.

Next are Aubin Thon Kodjovi, from the diaspora, Gabriel Agbéyomé Kodjo. It is supported by the former Archbishop of Lomé, Mgr Philippe Fanoko Kpodzro .

Then come William Kouessan, Komi Wolou, Aimé Gogué, three former comrades of the Coalition of 14, they freed themselves to ride solo.

Tchassona Traoré is invested by his party. Young Innocent Kagbara, MP, goes there for the first time after fruitless attempts by his father.

Finally, the only woman of the ten, Afiwa Kpetigo, not very well known, she will play the gender card.

Large absentees all the same are also noted, the patriarch Gilchrist Olympio, Yaovi Agboyibor and the sulfurous Tikpi Salifou Atchadam of the PNP.

The first worn out by age is talking less and less, the second has suspended its participation in the current electoral process, and the last in hiding since the August 2017 crisis, calls on its supporters to boycott the poll.
