The French Corentin Moutet won the first final of his career at the Doha ATP tournament on Friday by defeating the Swiss Stan Wawrinka in three sets and two hours of play.

The 20-year-old, 81st in the world, suffered first by losing the first set 6-3, yielding on the only break point he had against him throughout the match.

His consistency, with 76% of first service successful and 80% of points won on his first ball, ended up bringing down the Swiss, 15th world and seeded N.1. Stan Wawrinka hung on, saving 9 station wagons.

The Frenchman, who previously fell from Canada's Milos Raonix and then, in quarters, from Spain's Fernando Verdasco, will face Andrey Rublev, 22, and 23rd in the world, to win his first title. The Russian, quarter finalist at the last US Open, has already won two titles, including one on hard in Moscow in 2019.
