January 9, 2020 When hopes seemed lost, rescuers managed to find and save a 27-year-old reindeer herder who had lost himself in the tundra, surviving without food and with temperatures below 30 degrees below zero for 16 days.

The man, originally from the autonomous district of Čukotka, had left last December to reach the local village of Rurkajpij and had lost his way. Rescuers found him 200 kilometers away from his destination. Most of the time the man spent it in an abandoned cottage, without food. When they found him he was undernourished, but not life threatening.
