According to Putin, the opening of regular rail services should have a positive effect on the supply of the peninsula market and its saturation with high-quality and affordable goods.

The President noted that “he is especially counting on this effect after the opening of regular railway freight traffic.”

“From July 1, rail transportation of goods will be carried out on a regular basis (along the Crimean bridge. - RT),” the head of state quoted Interfax as saying.

On December 23, Putin opened traffic on the Crimean bridge’s railroad, passing the bridge in the driver’s cab on the train.

In November 2019, the Deputy Head of the Ministry of Transport of Russia Vladimir Tokarev announced that the opening of freight traffic along the railway part of the Crimean bridge was scheduled for June 1, 2020.
