As noted, the court decided to call a new presidential election within the time frame established by the country's Constitution.

Earlier it became known that the court in Abkhazia will again consider the complaint against the decision following the presidential election.

In September, the Central Election Commission of Abkhazia officially declared Raul Khadjimba the president of the country. Later, opposition leader Alhas Kvitsiniya filed a lawsuit in the Supreme Court demanding to cancel the election results.

The court recognized the decision of the Central Election Commission on the victory of Khajimba as legal; the claim of Kvitsinia was not satisfied.

On January 9, protesters broke into the Abkhaz president’s administration building. Protesters demanded the resignation of the president.
