Umm al-Quwain and Ras al-Khaimah identified five measures to prevent Crimean fever (Congo hemorrhagic), most notably wearing light-colored clothes when slaughtered to observe ticks that cause the disease, if they reach the body.

The Ras Al Khaimah Municipality stated that Crimean fever is a common viral disease between humans and animals, whose incubation period ranged between one and six days, indicating that the virus is endemic in some countries of Asia, the Balkans, the Middle East and Africa.

She explained that the symptoms of the disease include fever, headache, muscle pain, nausea and diarrhea. She noted that animals and livestock do not show symptoms of the disease.

Umm Al-Quwain Municipality indicated that Crimean fever is widespread and is caused by a virus carried by a tick insect (viral Nairobi) that belongs to the Bunia Virus family. The virus is transmitted to humans either through a tick bite bite or by direct contact with blood or the tissues and secretions of infected animals during slaughter or Immediately after.
