The Professional Football League (LFP) was rather lenient with the Saint-Etienne club, which suffered two matches behind closed doors, one of which closed after the incidents against Paris SG on December 15, where dozens of smoke bombs had been lit.

"After examining the file, the Disciplinary Committee of the LFP decided to sanction AS Saint-Etienne for two matches behind closed doors at the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium, including one suspended match", for the use "of pyrotechnic devices ", announced the body.

This decision confirms the total closed door measure decided as a precaution by the League on December 16, the day after the facts.

The club from Saint-Etienne indicated that it had taken note of this sanction and specified that its team would therefore evolve behind closed doors during the next day of Ligue 1 against Nantes this Sunday (3:00 p.m.).

The League also sanctioned supporters of PSG for the use of pyrotechnic devices. They will be deprived of parking for the next match played outside by PSG, against Monaco on Wednesday.

During the Ligue 1 meeting between ASSE and PSG on December 15, dozens of smoke bombs were lit from the two corners throughout the match and fireworks were even fired at the end of the match since the Kop Nord, as part of the 20th anniversary of L'Avant-garde, a group of Stéphanois supporters from the Magic fans.

The use of smoke bombs, banned by the League for their dangerousness, is one of the classics of ultras culture.

The images of the impressive pyrotechnic show had toured social networks and televisions, especially since he had intervened when Kylian Mbappé was celebrating his second goal (90th), the fourth for Paris which had won 4 -0 in Forez.

The meeting was also punctuated by incidents between Stéphanois and Parisian supporters, who were nearly a thousand in their parking lot. Firecrackers and smoke jets had been identified.
