Five months after the revocation of the autonomy status enjoyed by Kashmir for 70 years, dozens of activists and politicians are still imprisoned and communications are still restricted. But New Delhi is trying to show the international community that the situation is normal. The Indian government has been taking a first delegation of ambassadors to the country since Thursday.

The ambassadors of 15 countries arrived on Thursday in the territory of Kashmir, a new administrative entity directly governed by New Delhi.

Among them are the representatives of the United States, South Korea, Togo, Niger, Nigeria and Argentina. Guided by Indian officials, they met with members of the military, politicians and local journalists.

A very supervised visit, therefore, and which does not include a meeting with opponents , many of whom are still in prison. These special conditions prompted EU diplomats to refuse to take part. France, for example, has decided that it is prudent to wait before lending itself to such an exercise.

New Delhi is trying to show the world that the situation has returned to normal in Kashmir, five months after having unilaterally revoked its autonomy , cut off all communication and locked up its political elite.

However, the mobile internet is still cut off there and opposition politicians based in New Delhi are still not allowed to go to Kashmir.

Last October, 27 MEPs, mostly from the far right, made an unofficial first visit to the disputed region.
