His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Representative of the Ruler in the Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi, stressed the keenness of the state leadership to support the fishing profession and encourage fishermen to stick to it, as it is one of the main pillars and important in the field of food security.

This came during a meeting with His Highness, at the Palm Palace, by a number of fishermen in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, in the presence of the Commander in Chief of Abu Dhabi Police, Major General Faris Khalaf Al Mazrouei, and the head of the Agency for the Protection of Vital Facilities and Coasts, Major General Pilot Ali Muhammad Musleh Al Ahbabi.

During the meeting, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan stressed the importance of applying the relevant legislation and laws that regulate the fishing profession and preserve and develop fish wealth, and called on fishermen to the importance of following the laws regulating the fishing profession, to preserve the local fish wealth, and to ensure the sustainability of its stock and the sector in a way Year.

His Highness stressed the importance of marine resources and their value in the historical heritage of the region, noting that the fish stock was recently subjected to severe depletion, as a result of some wrong and unsustainable fishing practices.

His Highness urged the fishermen to preserve the marine environment, stressing the importance of cooperation between the fishermen and the concerned authorities, through the application of laws and legislations related to fish wealth, which would contribute to the sustainability and protection of fish wealth.

His Highness pointed out that these parties always strive to confront and solve the obstacles facing fishermen, and to take appropriate measures and decisions for them.

His Highness noted that the recent fisheries regulatory decisions contributed to improving the state of fish stocks and protecting them from overexploitation, according to some indicators.

From the fishermen, he listened to the most important services provided to them, the challenges facing them, and directed to overcome them and provide them with the necessary support to ensure the sustainability of the fishing profession.

For their part, the fishermen affirmed their commitment to all the laws and laws that regulate the fishing profession, praising the initiatives of the state leadership and their continuous support to them, which always pushes them to continue working in this profession, adhere to it and preserve it for future generations.
