As noted, despite the current ban on mobile phones, the number of violations remains high, which contributes to the commission of various crimes, mainly of a fraudulent nature.
According to the Federal Penitentiary Service, mobile communications are used to pressure witnesses, coordinate actions of organized criminal groups, deliveries of prohibited items, as well as for extremist purposes.
The initiative became known in November, it was supported by the Ministry of Communications.
As pointed out in the Federal Penitentiary Service, the operators oppose the efforts of law enforcement agencies to restrict cellular communications, because they do not want to lose profits.
