The fall of 22 missiles fired from Iran at US bases in Iraq has left many Iraqi political reactions.

Outgoing Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi began a series of contacts to prevent Washington and Tehran from entering into an open confrontation, rejecting any violation of Iraqi sovereignty.

The President of the Republic, Barham Salih, rejected his country as a starting point for attacking any country, or a source of threat to any of its neighbors.

The Iraqi Foreign Ministry also announced its intention to summon the Iranian ambassador to Baghdad, in protest against the Iranian bombing of the Ain al-Assad bases (in the western Anbar province) and Erbil (in the Kurdistan region of Iraq).

The ministry said it will not allow Iraq to be a battlefield, a pathway to carry out attacks, or a place to use its lands to harm neighboring countries, calling on all parties to show restraint and work to reduce tension in the region.

It also called for not making Iraq an arena for settling accounts, and urged to work to resolve the crisis in the region.
