08 January 2020 The carabinieri of San Mauro Torinese have arrested a 29-year-old Latvian fugitive, Aleksejs Rustanovs, aka Christopher Hughes, hit by a European arrest warrant issued by the Scottish authorities for voluntary murder, kidnapping, kidnapping, hostage taking, theft with use of arms, drug trafficking, arms and ammunition trafficking, cybercrime, money laundering and serious injury.

The man had hidden in a hotel in San Mauro Torinese, in the company of a woman. The carabinieri discovered and identified him by carrying out a check on the files of the lodged in the hotel. Rustanovs is believed to be the head of a criminal association for the purpose of international drug and arms trafficking and responsible for the murder in 2016 of Martin Kok, a Dutch journalist who had published the names of the members of the organization.
