This year, the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child will become law in Sweden and in Piteå the idea is that it will permeate all the municipality's activities. Although much is considered good already, there are problems, especially the health of young girls.

- There are problems. That is why we appoint a special coordinator for measures that will strengthen the health of children and young people, says Helena Stenberg (S).

"Getting exciting"

Another step in getting better is to interview all the municipality's seventh graders.

- It will be exciting to see what it gives, says Maria Holmquist-Ek (V). After all, children and young people are our future.

"No kicking requirements"

School and preschool are of course important for the children. A few years ago, Piteå closed several schools despite major protests, but now the municipal management says there are no new kick requirements.

- No savings requirements have been laid out for 2020. We do not yet know how it will be in 2021, says Helena Stenberg.
