January 7, 2020 The domino effect in the Middle East continues. Germany plans to move part of its contingent from Iraq to Jordan and Kuwait for security reasons after the assassination of Iranian general Qassem Soleimani in an American air raid on Baghdad.

The German news agency Dpa reports, explaining that German Defense Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer and Foreign Minister Heiko Maas have written to deputies that the military present at the Iraqi bases in Baghdad and Taji will be '' temporarily withdrawn '' .

The two ministers added that talks with the Baghdad government will continue on the continuation of the Iraqi troops training mission.

Germany is present in Iraq with about 120 soldiers, most of whom are deployed in the bases of Taji and Baghdad.
