Australian Ashleigh Barty, winner of Roland-Garros and the WTA Masters in 2019, begins 2020 at the top of the world ranking on Monday for her entry into the tournament at the Brisbane tournament, at her home in Australia.
Barty could find on his way his Czech runner-up in the WTA ranking, Karolina Pliskova.
The Romanian Simona Halep passes third in the standings, without having played, taking advantage of the points lost by the Japanese Naomi Osaka, due to the delayed start of the Brisbane tournament, a week later this year (6-12 January).
Osaka will enter the fray Tuesday to reclaim her points in Brisbane, where she was a semi-finalist last year.
