This was announced by the conductor and artistic director of the 70th edition of the Italian Song Festival, in direct connection with Tg1 for the preview of the 'Soliti Ignoti - Il Return' Special Lottery Italy, confirming the rumors already circulated in the last 48 hours on the widening the number of Big singers in the competition from 22 to 24.

On 1 January 2020, Rai 1 Management proceeded to amend the Text of the Festival Regulations as follows: "- the Samples Section is made up of 24 (twenty-four) Artists with relative songs instead of 22 (twenty-two), as previously envisaged by the amendment to the Regulations of 12 December 2019 ".

Rita Pavone and Tosca are the two artists who bring up the number of singers competing on the stage of the Ariston Theater. A week ago Amadeus, had announced the name of the 22 artists in the competition, surprising everyone.

In the evening the new surprise of the Epiphany: Rita Pavone will also parade from competitors with the song 'Niente (Resilienza 74)' (74 is also the number of her years) and Tosca with the song 'I loved everything'.

Tosca and Rita Pavone return to the Festival after years of absence. Tosca won the singing competition 24 years ago paired with Ron with the song 'I would like to meet you in a hundred years' and had the last appearance 13 years ago, in 2007, when he presented the song 'Il Terzo Fuochista'. Rita Pavone, on the other hand, has been missing from Sanremo since 1972, when she participated with the song 'Amici mai'.
