A detainee in his twenties committed suicide Monday at the Corbas remand center, near Lyon, we learned from firefighters and a prison source. The young man killed himself by hanging, according to firefighters.
His body was discovered at the end of the morning by a supervisor and a nurse when the medical treatment was distributed, said the prison source. The nurse tried unsuccessfully to revive the young man.
There was no immediate evidence to explain the suicide of the detainee, who left no writing in his cell, added the same source, without revealing the reason for his conviction.
