by Tiziana Di Giovannandrea 06 January 2020 Since the beginning of 2020, there have already been five attacks on ambulances, doctors, health workers and the Emergency Department in Naples.

This led to the decision to install video surveillance cameras from 15 January of the current year both on ambulances operating in the Neapolitan city, to avoid attacks on rescuers, and in the emergency rooms of city hospitals.

The Interior Minister Luciana Lamorgese said in this regard: "The attention of the Interior Ministry is on the most serious episodes of violence and aggression to 118 workers in the city and province of Naples, which occurred in the last few days", adding: " From 15 January the first cameras will be active on ambulances in service in the territory of Naples as requested on 16 December in the Provincial Committee for the Order and Public Safety while the construction of connected video surveillance systems is planned by the hospital with the police force stations. An operational effort that will be strengthened to guarantee safety and protection for the health personnel who are daily committed to serving the community ", added the owner of the Interior Ministry.

The measurement of the cameras was anticipated to the Agi agency also by the general manager of the Asl Napoli 1, Ciro Verdoliva : "Next January 15 there will be the first ambulance equipped with cameras and, after a few days of testing, all emergency vehicles We will present the system for hospital care on Wednesday, and I will immediately try to verify how and when to connect it with the Carabinieri and Police Centers ".

According to Verdoliva: "We cannot speak of escalation of the aggression phenomenon, which is not only Neapolitan but present in Italy. Many were registered in the past as well. Now there is an increase, but also greater attention in registering them. Then it goes made a distinction between those put in place by those with mental problems and those committed by relatives and friends of patients in the emergency room, not to mention episodes of absolute seriousness such as that of a crew of 118 forced by young men under threat to help a minor boy ".
