The Fujairah Appeals Court examined the case of an Arab woman accused of insulting a person in a written message on the WhatsApp program, and the accused confessed to insulting and demanding clemency.

The Public Prosecutor charged with the court for the charge of writing written letters containing insults via the WhatsApp program referred to a request to punish her in accordance with Article 20 of Law No. 5 of 2012 regarding combating information technology crimes.

The first instance court ruled in attendance to punish the accused with three months imprisonment for the charge against her and ordered the suspension of the execution of the penalty and deportation, and obliged her to pay the judicial fees.

The judiciary asked the woman about the charge attributed to her, and she said, “I am a victim and not a perpetrator, as I wanted to buy cosmetic products from the complainant, after agreeing on the price and place of delivery via the WhatsApp program, but he sent her a written message requesting to photograph myself with a feature "The video is naked, so I can hand it over."

And I continued, “I did not hold myself angry when he asked me this request, so I addressed these insults to him, except that the complainant preceded me and opened a notification of my right to avenge me so that I would not open a communication against him.”

The defendant demanded that her case be considered with mercy and compassion and that the sentence be reduced by canceling the deportation decision.

The court decided to postpone the case to the ruling in the next session.
