“The United States is disappointed with the actions taken today in the Iraqi Council of Representatives,” Morgan Ortagus, spokesman for the State Department, quoted RIA Novosti as saying.

According to her, the United States is awaiting clarification regarding the legal nature and consequences of the resolution.

“We urge Iraqi leaders to once again assess the importance of ongoing economic and security relations between the two countries and the continued presence of a global coalition to combat IS,” Ortagus said.

She also said that the continuation of the fight against IS is in the common interests of the two countries.

Earlier, the Iraqi parliament voted to terminate the agreement with the coalition to combat the Islamic State and for the withdrawal of foreign troops from the country.

Iranian leader Hassan Rouhani, in a conversation with his Iraqi counterpart Barham Saleh, welcomed the decision to withdraw troops, which will help stabilize the region.
