An elderly couple has died as a result of a fire that occurred this morning at their home in Hellín (Albacete), which has also caused that five other people had to be treated by smoke inhalation.

According to sources of the 112 emergency service, the fire has started at 6:00 am, for reasons that have not yet been specified, in a house located on the second floor of a four-story building located on Doctor Cerdá Martí street from Hellín.

The most serious is a 43-year-old woman , who has been evacuated in a mobile UVI to Hellín Hospital, to which another 89-year-old woman has also been transferred.

They have also been treated at the scene for having inhaled smoke another woman of 70 years and two men of 27 and 69 years, respectively, who have not required to be transferred to a health center.

Firefighters from Hellín Park, who have already extinguished the fire, a mobile UVI and an emergency ambulance and agents of the National Police and the Local Police, have moved to the site, said 112.

For its part, the Provincial Fire Extinguishing Service (Sepei) of the Diputación de Albacete has indicated that the fire has forced to confine the neighbors of the building until firefighters have verified that the flames have not spread to any other home , although they have produced significant damage in which it originated.

He also pointed out that the first hypotheses suggest that the origin of the fire may be in the floor room , although work is still being done to find out the causes.

In the early hours of the morning the fire has been considered controlled and ventilation work has been completed, so the neighbors have already returned to their homes.
