During the autumn, the police received a number of reports of robberies and thefts against elderly people in southern Sweden. In more than 30 cases, perpetrators have pretended to be false police officers. Now the police believe they have found one of the perpetrators in Helsingborg, writes Sydsvenskan.

The police internal commander in Helsingborg confirms for SVT News that they are investigating whether there are links to crime in Kalmar and Kronoberg counties.

- We are still working broadly on that investigation. He is not considered a suspect (for crimes in Småland ed. Report), but we are looking at cases in the entire region south to see if he can be linked to more crimes, says internal commander Marie Fridström.

How do you view the type of crime he is being investigated for?

- All crimes where you are deceiving the elderly are especially ruthless, says Marie Fridström.

The man, who is 30 years old, was arrested last Friday and, according to Marie Fridström, "in all likelihood" will be arrested on Monday.
