Dubai Healthcare City has announced the introduction of the new "Lactation Consultant" under the new updated licensing list, with the aim of expanding the range of medical specialties required in the city.
Under the new title - which is the first of its kind in the Dubai Healthcare City free zone - healthcare professionals who have completed a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in the fields of medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, midwifery, nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, nutrition and slimming can apply for the new license in the city Dubai Medical.
The head of the regulatory sector for the authority of Dubai Healthcare City, Dr. Ramadan Al Balushi, said that «the new name comes within a series of specialties that are created and provided by Dubai Healthcare City to increase the demand for such specialties to serve the medical sector in the city, and provide it with the required specializations», pointing out that by providing this title License holders will be able to improve and develop knowledge of breastfeeding issues in the health sector and in the communities we serve.
The new licensing requirements are in line with international practices and recognized international certificates in this field.
The applicants for the new name must have completed 90 hours in education related to breastfeeding or breastfeeding issues from one of the academic programs specialized in breastfeeding, in addition to at least two years of experience in providing counseling in the field of breastfeeding in a clinical environment.
Dubai Healthcare City offers another option for obtaining the new title, which is obtaining a certificate of international breastfeeding consultant from the International Council for Breastfeeding Consultants, along with at least two years of experience in providing breastfeeding counseling in a clinical environment.
The new name will join along with a number of names and specialties developed in Dubai Healthcare City, which have been added to the new list, finally.
