- If we need to see what happens on the spot, we send a text message. There is a link that starts an encrypted video call, says specialist physician Gitte Linderoth to Danish TV2Lorry.

In this way, the operator himself or herself can form an idea of, for example, an accident site and decide on relevant actions if someone is ill or injured.

One year of testing

The technology is now being used in Denmark after being tested for a year. Experience so far is that more than one in four video calls lead to a re-evaluation of what ambulance operations are needed.

While waiting for the ambulance to arrive, the caller may also receive other guidance, says Gitte Linderoth, for example, when someone has suffered a cardiac arrest.

No plans for Sweden

- Do you press in the right place, at the right frequency and hard enough? Can anything be more optimized? she explains.

The technology of video calling has been tested in Sweden, but there are still no plans to use it, according to SOS Alarm's press spokesman Anders Klarström.
