A man was shot dead by police on Friday in Villejuif, near Paris, after attacking "several people" with a knife. One of the victims died.

Armed with a knife, a man killed one person and injured " several " others, this Friday, January 3 near Villejuif, in the Paris suburbs, before being " neutralized " by the police, announced the police headquarters .

The stabbing attack took place around 2 p.m. in the Hautes-Bruyères park, near a supermarket in the neighboring town of Haÿ-les-Roses, in Val-de- Marl. The suspect is said to have injured three people before being shot by the officers of the Anti-Crime Brigade.

The Secretary of State to the Minister of the Interior, Laurent Nuñez, arrived on the spot accompanied by the prefect of police Didier Lallement. A security perimeter was set up around the site of the attack to allow police and rescue intervention.
