President Moon Jae-in approved the appointment of Justice Minister Chu Mi-ae today.

In a message to reporters this morning, Chung Dae-jung, a Blue House spokesman, said Moon resigned Mr. Chu at around 7:00 am.

The spokesman said, "Chuo's term began today at 0."

Moon is expected to give Mr. Chu a letter of appointment at the Blue House this afternoon.

The appointment of Secretary Chu resolved vacancy in the Attorney General's vacancy 80 days after the resignation of the former secretary of state on October 14 last year.

As Chu has been officially appointed, there is a prospect that the government's prosecution reform will accelerate.

At the end of last year, the National Assembly has passed a bill to establish a high-ranking officials' criminal investigation department, and when the prosecution law enforcement policy is expected to be handled soon, it will be appointed to the head of the Ministry of Justice, which will strengthen the prosecution's organization and improvement in investigation practices.

We are also interested in how this appointment will affect the investigation of 'Prosecutor Yun Suk-yeol' targeting the Blue House.

Mr. Moon asked the National Assembly on 31 March to send a progress report on candidates to Chu Blue by the 1st of this month.

By not sending a report, President Moon has appointed Chu to follow the procedures set forth in the Human Rights Hearing Act.

Some argue that President Kim's tight timetable, including a two-day deadline for sending to Congress, reflects his willingness to speed up prosecution reform.

This is the 23rd time that the Moon Jae-in government has been appointed without the National Assembly's Statement on Human Resources.

Minister-level personnel appointed without the report were adopted by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kang Kyung-hwa, former Fair Trade Commissioner Kim Sang-jo, former Defense Minister Song Young-moo, former Broadcasting Communications Commissioner Lee Hyo-sung, former Minister of Broadcasting and Communications, Hong Jong-hak, former Minister of Small and Medium Enterprises, Yu Eun-hye, Minister of Social Affairs and Education, and Minister of Education Minister of National Affairs, Cho Hae Chun, Minister of Unification Kim Yeon-chul, Minister of Unification Kim Young-sun, Minister of Small and Medium Venture Business, KBS President Yang Seung-dong, Prosecutor General Yoon Suk-Yeol, Lee Suk-tae, Lee Eun-ae, Lee Mi-sun, Moon Hyung-bae Minister of Women, Family, Han Sang-hyuk, Chairman of Korea Communications Commission, Sung-wook Cho, Chairman of Fair Trade, and Chairman of the Financial Services Committee, Eun-Soo Su (22)
