“When it comes to the reform of the Security Service of Ukraine, I’ll honestly tell you that I am opposed to applying a turbo mode to it,” he said in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.

He expressed satisfaction that such a regime did not apply to her.

“We are moving slowly, step by step, but very carefully. Because reforming the SBU is like turning off an atomic bomb. If you cut the wrong wire, then everything will explode, ”he added.

As Kuleba emphasized, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and SBU head Ivan Bakanov are committed to reforming this body.

“I think that it is already visible that the SBU has become more transparent and more accountable, but how to reform it in order to turn it into an effective structure - these discussions continue. The main thing is that they are not frozen, the process is ongoing, ”he said.

In the summer, Ukraine stated that they intend to reform the Security Service of Ukraine, indicating that historically the agency has been integrated into a large number of processes.

In 2017, the EU called for urgent reform of the SBU.
