Recently, the state of Hawaii banned two of the substances because research has shown the connection between the chemicals and hormone disorders that contribute to coral bleaching.

Lovisa Bohman is an environmental consultant and explains how summer baths can reduce their impact on lakes and the sea.

But even here in Sweden, our lubricating aquatic environment affects the fact that the chemicals are not degradable, says environmental consultant Lovisa Bohman:

- When we bathe, the water does not pass through sewage treatment plants, so the chemical substances end up directly in lakes and seas that we may not really want chemicals to contain.

But it is not about us to stop lubricating ourselves with sunscreen because the environmental impact must be weighed against the risk of getting cancer.

According to Lovisa Bohman, there are things that sun worshipers can do to reduce their impact.
