It was Saturday night that Erica and her partner Christopher were watching TV when they heard a fire alarm beep from the neighbor's apartment. Then they went out into the stairwell.

- It was riot, and I saw a lot of smoke coming out of the neighbor's apartment. I gave the neighbor our fire extinguisher, but realized that it probably would not suffice, says Erica.

Got to stay in hotel

After picking up their cat Bilbo, they ran out of the house. In total, the fire hit five stairwells and some 30 apartments have been evacuated. Erica, Christopher and Bilbo have lived in hotels since the fire occurred.

- We are shaken, shocked and sad. This could never have been expected. But both the police, the emergency services, the hotel staff and the insurance company have been very supportive in everything, says Erica.

On Monday morning, they were told that they could move from the hotel to a temporary apartment, which they will be staying in while waiting to be returned home.

- It feels as good as it can feel in such a situation. We are happy that we are doing well, and that we brought the cat with us. You think about what could have happened, says Erica.
