The new Scottish West Ham coach, David Moyes, assured Monday, the day after his appointment, that he would do his best for the team to be successful and thus prolong the adventure with his new club.

Without club since his first and brief stint at the Hammers, Moyes was appointed to replace Chilean Manuel Pellegrini, sacked on Saturday after a new home defeat against Leiceister (2-1).

"This time, I will do everything so that they (the leaders of West Ham) have no choice but to extend me," insisted the 56-year-old technician.

Former Hammers coach from November 2017 to June 2018, the 56-year-old Scottish technician had managed to keep West Ham in the Premier League but had not been extended, despite an encouraging 13th place.

"I was disappointed, I said it before, but this time I have another chance," he said.

"I think that says a lot of leaders. They thought that the work I did (2017-2018) was good enough to give me another opportunity," he continued.

"We did not talk about the past, only what the team was now, the situation it was in and what to do," he said.

The Scot will aim to keep the Hammers in the Premier League, currently 17th, just one point behind the relegated Premier but with one game less.

Moyes, former coach of Everton (2002-2013), Real Sociedad (2014-2015) and Sunderland (2016-2017), is best known for his sad stint at Manchester United. Successor to Sir Alex Ferguson for the 2013-2014 season, the Scottish technician has left a dull memory with the Red Devils, the club finishing 7th in the championship, eliminated in the quarter-finals of the Champions League by Bayern Munich.
