The Acting Chief of Staff of the Algerian Army, Major-General Said Chingriqa, said that the army succeeded in passing a sensitive stage in which the country went through and was subjected to a conspiracy which he described as dangerous, referring to some of the demands raised during the protests, which were rejected by the leadership of the military establishment.

A statement of the Algerian Ministry of Defense quoted Shankrihah as saying, during his presidency today, Monday, at a meeting with officials of the Algerian Ministry of Defense and the staff of the National Army that the plot was aimed at "striking Algeria's stability, undermining the pillars of the state, neutralizing its constitutional institutions, and pushing it into a quagmire of chaos and violence."

He added that "the Supreme Command of the National People's Army discerned the seriousness of this conspiracy, and this stage proceeded wisely and patiently by accompanying and protecting the peaceful marches without spilling a single drop of blood, in addition to accompanying the state institutions, insisting on staying under the constitutional legitimacy, and confronting anyone who tries to violate unity National. "

He also said that the army contributed, along with the security establishment, to the success of organizing free, fair, and transparent presidential elections, and to secure the electoral process in an atmosphere of calm.

He affirmed the army’s commitment to the constitution, to serving the country, and confronting anyone who tries to violate Algeria’s sovereignty.

The late Algerian army chief of staff, Lieutenant-General Ahmed Qaid Saleh, has rejected calls by protesters to establish a transitional period after displacing those described as symbols of the regime of former President Abdelaziz Bouteflika.

He also insisted that political change must be within the framework of the constitution by organizing the presidential elections that took place on the 12th of this month that resulted in the election of Abdel Majid Taboun as the new president of Algeria for a five-year term.
