28 December 2019A dispute over jealousy with her friend for a contested boy. This could be the cause of the death of Veronique Garella, the 29-year-old bartender from Chiavari who died last September overwhelmed by a train on the tracks in Cavi di Lavagna. The Genoa prosecutor's office is now investigating for voluntary murder. At first there were two hypotheses: a suicide or an accident due to the careless crossing of the tracks.

The agents of the Genoa mobile team, however, reconstructed what happened an hour before his death and discovered that the girl had spent the evening in a bar where she had arrived with her friend. Here they had joined other friends.

Late at night the two of them had begun to quarrel, in all likelihood over jealousy. Some witnesses had spoken of the quarrel.

The agents in the past weeks have interrogated five people, the five friends who would have attended the quarrel, and in the next few days they will be heard again. Her friend had spoken to the investigators about a difficult period for the bartender, but the circumstance had not been found in any way.

Biological samples were taken from the young woman to extract DNA and understand if there are traces of other people on the body. The body would show no signs of violence. Investigators want to understand if the dispute continued along the tracks and someone pushed it while the train passed or if it was a tragic fatality.
