Lebanese President Michel Aoun expressed his hope that the formation of the government will be a gift for the New Year and that Lebanon will emerge from its crisis.

He said - after meeting the Maronite Patriarch Bechara Al-Rahi on the occasion of Christmas - that the next government will not be composed by Gibran Bassil (head of the Free Patriotic Movement) as it is said, and it will be the government of all Lebanese, including Hezbollah.

"What determines the color of the next government is authorship, not mandate," the president added, noting that it will be based on specialists.

Basil, the foreign minister of the caretaker government, and Aoun's son-in-law.

On Tuesday, the head of the caretaker government, Saad Hariri, said that the government that is being formed will be the government of Basil, stressing that "there is no name, coverage, participation or trust if necessary" from him for the government that Hassan Diab is working to form.

And binding parliamentary consultations led to appointing Diab to form the next government to succeed the Hariri government, which resigned on October 29, under the weight of popular protests that have continued since 17 of that month.

The Future bloc (19 deputies) led by Hariri abstained from voting during these consultations, and informed Diab that it would not participate in the government and would not impede its formation.
