24 December 2019 "The finished bridge depends on the testing systems, but we hope that it can be inaugurated by the end of May, even if it is not excluded that something more can be done". The mayor of Genoa says it, as well as commissioner for the reconstruction of the viaduct on the Polcevera, Marco Bucci, on the sidelines of a site inspection.

"What we are most interested in is having the bridge finished in mid-March to start the paving works and having it completed by the end of that month - explained the mayor -. Since the last revision of the project plan all the construction works, not the steel ones, but the piles, will be finished in late January, which will allow in mid-March to see the complete bridge with all the steel infrastructure above ".

"The time schedule always has the same objectives, we expect that the bridge will be completely visible in mid-March, then we will have to work on putting other things in order, from asphalt to concrete" said Mayor Commissioner Marco Bucci, explaining in the detail the intervention phases to build the viaduct that will replace the Morandi.

"Friday 27 will go up the span that is between piles 7 and 8, all assembled, with the side covers already placed. An important thing, because sending up the pieces with wings out means limiting the work at height, which are those more risky and complex from a technical point of view between painting and welding. The 3-4 that was to go up 30 without the fins, will go up 7 with the fins, because we do the work we had to do at ground level ".

"In January all the others will go up - added Bucci -. PerGenova has confirmed for now that by mid-March we will have the visibility of the entire full bridge, which is exactly what we want. The weather problem obviously exists, but there are spaces within the project planning that allow us to keep the times ".

Toti is also optimistic about the construction site closing before the summer
"The construction site of the bridge goes on every day: you see it growing, even if obviously bad weather has weighed on Liguria and on outdoor work. I remain optimistic that, week more or week less, we must close this site before 'summer". The Ligurian governor Giovanni Toti says it after taking part in the inspection in the reconstruction site of the viaduct on the Polcevera which will replace the Morandi bridge, which collapsed on August 14, 2018.

"Anyone rowing against - added the President of the Region - does not spite Toti or Bucci, he does it to all Liguria, to citizens, to his businesses and to Italy. We must be united and compact to close this job over time , as we promised, because we are under the eyes of the world and it depends on the credibility of the country system. I believe that this awareness is widespread among the companies involved, the national and regional government and the mayor, personally committed ".

Toti also recalls the importance of the financing of the Genoa Decree: "We hope that between the Stability Law and the extension decree we will get everything requested: despite the emergency of Ponte Morandi and the pain it caused, despite the storm last year, despite the wettest autumn of recent years with landslides that even put us in difficulty, Liguria - he concluded - is healthy, strong, alive and in numbers all this is confirmed. We are satisfied with how the system has righteous and reacted ".
