NZ Volcano Eruption Suspended Search for Two Missing Police December 24, 15:15

An eruption that killed more than 40 people on a volcanic island in northern New Zealand has killed 17 people so far, and police have announced that they will discontinue a search for two still unknown places.

An eruption erupted on White Island, a volcanic island known as a popular tourist destination in northern New Zealand, this month, involving 47 tourists and other people. According to the Ministry of Health, 17 people have been killed so far, More than 20 people are being treated at hospitals in New Zealand and neighboring Australia.

Also, with the two still missing, police suspected that they may have been swept away by the sea and searched a large area about 70 km east of the island to the opposite shore.

However, two weeks after the eruption, police had announced that the search would be suspended 24 hours after no clues had been found.

Police are calling for information that will lead them to their whereabouts and will resume their search in the future if new clues are received.
