“The Foreign Ministry on behalf of the Colombian government strongly rejects the unfounded and malicious allegations of the illegal regime of Nicolas Maduro against the Colombian government regarding alleged participation in the attack on a military unit that occurred last Sunday in the Venezuelan state of Bolivar,” the ministry said.

They added that Caracas "invents external enemies" in order to "divert attention from internal problems."

Earlier in Venezuela, an opposition attack on a military unit was reported.

Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreas did not rule out that Peru’s authorities were involved in the attack, and also noted that attackers enter Venezuela through Colombia and also have support in Brazil.
